Smart Carbon Reduction Subsidy Program: Facilitating Carbon Reduction Transformation for Businesses, Creating a Win-Win Situation

In recent years, the global climate change issue has become increasingly severe, prompting governments worldwide to take measures, including encouraging businesses to reduce carbon emissions. The Taiwanese government has introduced a series of carbon reduction policies, one of which is the "Smart Carbon Reduction Subsidy Program."

Organized by the Ministry of Economic Affairs' Industrial Bureau, the Smart Carbon Reduction Subsidy Program provides subsidies to the commercial service industry to assist enterprises in adopting smart technology solutions to enhance energy efficiency and reduce carbon emissions. The program is divided into two categories:

1. Single Service Application Category: Subsidies are provided to enterprises that adopt at least one smart carbon reduction service, such as smart lighting, smart air conditioning, or smart power management.

2. Integrated Service Application Category: Subsidies are offered to core enterprises within the commercial service value chain or system. These enterprises collaborate with at least six partners within the value chain or system to jointly participate in integrated smart carbon reduction services, such as smart logistics or smart manufacturing.

The subsidy amount for the Smart Carbon Reduction Subsidy Program can reach up to 1 million NT dollars, and businesses can apply based on their actual needs. The application deadline is November 30, 2024.

The goal of this program is to assist businesses in carbon reduction transformation, decrease carbon emissions, and contribute to environmental sustainability. Additionally, the program helps enterprises improve energy efficiency, ultimately reducing operational costs.

   An AI-powered customer service system utilizes artificial intelligence technology to provide services to customers. It reduces the need for direct interactions between employees and customers, leading to a decrease in the company's energy consumption.

   AI-powered customer service systems can cut down on the use of paper within a company, resulting in reduced carbon emissions. For example, a company in Taichung that implemented an AI-powered customer service system could reduce paper usage and labor costs by about 10% annually, reducing around 5 tons of carbon emissions.
