Kaohsiung Aiyi Lions Club serves as a daily worker to help people in a vegetative state bathe

In response to the frequent breaking of temperature records globally, the first week of July this year marked the hottest week on record for the Earth. The weather continues to surge towards extremely high temperatures. Xue Wei-li, Chairman of In One Sustainable Technology Co., Ltd., took office as the 8th president of the Kaohsiung Ai-Yi Lions Club this month. On July 11th, he led fellow Lions Club members to serve as one-day at-home volunteers, joining the Genesis Social Welfare Foundation in providing bathing services using the "original bed bathing" technique for bedridden individuals. They also distributed consolation money, nutritional supplements, and diapers, offering support and encouragement to the families of long-term care recipients. Additionally, they plan to organize a charity run on October 21st (Saturday) to rally public support for the Genesis Foundation's at-home services.

President Xue Wei-li, known for his dedication to public welfare, was honored as the Good Person and Good Deed Representative of Kaohsiung City last year. Recently, he has been focusing on environmental issues and has been a long-time supporter of the Genesis Foundation. Recognizing the challenges faced by caregivers of bedridden individuals, he, along with Lions Club First Vice President Dong Jin-liang and Lion Wang Jian-ming, expressed concern for those in need. They volunteered for a day with the Genesis Foundation, visiting Mr. Cai, a 67-year-old case living in a corrugated iron house without air conditioning. Facing difficult living conditions and financial hardship, Mr. Cai had not bathed for nearly a year. President Xue Wei-li and his team fulfilled Mr. Cai's wish for a bath on a sweltering summer day.

President Xue Wei-li stated, "Taking a bath is easy for most people, but for bedridden individuals, especially those in a vegetative state, it is extremely challenging. Mr. Cao Qing, the founder of the Genesis Foundation, developed the 'original bed bathing' technique, allowing bedridden individuals to bathe comfortably in their own beds. This helps maintain cleanliness, relax stiff muscles, improve blood circulation, address infection issues, remove accumulated dirt and dead skin, restore skin's respiratory function, reduce the burden on the lungs, and avoid the risk of falls or injuries to family members. It is a service worth promoting. Despite the sweltering conditions, the staff worked tirelessly to help bedridden individuals enjoy a clean and comfortable bath, which is truly touching. The Ai-Yi Lions Club adheres to the principle of service first and is dedicated to enthusiastic contributions to public welfare. Wherever there is a need, we will be there, spreading warmth to the corners of society that need it most."

To raise funds for the service of bedridden individuals, the Kaohsiung Ai-Yi Lions Club will collaborate with In One Sustainable Technology Co., Ltd. and the Genesis Foundation to organize the "JOIN IT Love in Action Sustainable Charity Run" on October 21, 2023, at Dream Mall in Kaohsiung. The event aims to contribute to social responsibility for at-home services for bedridden individuals. Clubs and companies are welcome to participate, and inquiries can be made at the dedicated hotline: 07-2612861 ext. 9 for the Genesis Run Team / 02-25222850 for the In One Sustainable Run Team.
