Taiwan's Future Vision Digital Sustainability Alliance was grandly established - ushering in a new era of dual-axis transformation of digital and sustainability
Parliamentary Secretary for Digital Affairs Li Huairen particularly emphasized the importance of digital and sustainable development.
In a fervent atmosphere of anticipation, today marks a significant milestone as Taiwan officially establishes the "Taiwan Future Vision Digital Sustainability Alliance." Deputy Premier of the Executive Yuan, Cheng Wen-tsang, who also serves as the honorary convener of the alliance, emphasized in his speech at the conference that Taiwan's future development will revolve closely around the core themes of digital transformation and net-zero transition. The formation of this alliance signifies a collaborative effort to address challenges across borders, industries, and generations.
Deputy Minister of the Digital Ministry, Lee Huai-jen, reiterated the importance of digital and sustainable development, citing the remarkable achievements of the Digital Ministry in carbon reduction. The comprehensive deployment of the Taiwan Cloud Market has saved over 2 million sheets of paper, equivalent to surpassing a 58-story skyscraper, while reducing approximately 6,665 tons of carbon emissions. This accomplishment is comparable to the carbon absorption capacity of 17.1 Daan Forest Parks.
The Democratic Zero-Carbon Technology Division of the Digital Ministry, focusing on the application of digital zero-carbon technology, has completed a carbon inventory this year, paving the way for the digital zero-carbon development path of the ministry and the digital industry. This effort has enhanced corporate carbon management capabilities, created new digital tools, and explored new possibilities for digital sustainable applications.
On the international cooperation front, the alliance demonstrated its open attitude by inviting participants from around the world to join the President's Cup Hackathon, aiming to gather international expertise and explore innovative approaches to "digital green transformation." The 2023 Information Month will showcase the diverse innovative applications of cutting-edge technologies such as AR/VR, generative AI, and digital twins in energy conservation and carbon reduction.
The inaugural chairman, Chiu Lin-bin, expressed deep emotion, stating that the establishment of the alliance today not only marks a new beginning but also represents a collective commitment to achieving a sustainable and digital future. The alliance is dedicated to promoting the perfect integration of digital transformation and sustainable development, providing a cross-disciplinary collaboration platform to address global challenges such as climate change and resource scarcity.
With ESG sustainable development at its core, the alliance will drive the application of digital technology in the field of corporate sustainable development, accelerating the transformation and upgrading of infrastructure projects and related industries. Chiu Lin-bin encouraged every member to actively participate, leaving a mark for the future of Taiwan and the world, making the alliance a significant force leading the change.
The inaugural secretary-general, Xue Wei-li, expressed gratitude to Chairman Chiu for providing the opportunity for service learning and shared the alliance's steadfast commitment to promoting the dual-axis transformation of digitalization and sustainability in the infrastructure industry. He emphasized that digitalization not only enhances the efficiency of engineering design and management but also significantly reduces resource waste. The concept of sustainable development will promote the use of green materials and advance the circular economy. This transformation will make the infrastructure industry more environmentally friendly and enhance its competitiveness in the global market. The alliance will organize training courses related to ESG and digital transformation in the future, assisting in the enhancement and matchmaking of industry talents to further boost corporate competitiveness.
