The Ministry of Economic Affairs held a joint award ceremony on the 19th for the Small Giant Award, Business Startup Award, Innovation Research Award, and Women Entrepreneurship Elite Award. Join It Sustainable (Join It) was recognized in the “Innovative Traditional Industry Category” of the Startup Award for its “Recyclable Application of Color-Painted Solar Panel Coating,” which establishes an operational and business model example for greening building façades with renewable energy.
Join It Sustainable was founded in 2021. Since 2023, the company has been promoting the market adoption of its “Recyclable Application of Color-Painted Solar Panel Coating”. Founder Wei-Li Hsueh stated that the company applies a high-transmittance color-painted film to either new and decommissioned PV modules, enabling building façades to generate electricity, provide heat-insulation benefits, and deliver urban aesthetics and advertising revenue. These diverse functions enhance user incentives and create a balance between urban aesthetics and carbon-reduction in architecture.

Hsueh noted that the team’s core technologies focus on recyclability and re-deployability, allowing building façades to be transformed for both energy generation and energy saving. The solution also offers UV resistance, weather durability, easy cleaning, and reduced glare, while supporting color and custom graphic designs to maintain urban aesthetics and brand identity—helping reshape the appearance of metropolitan areas.
Direct reuse of recycled modules and full life-cycle management are additional key features, aligning with the principles of the circular economy. The product has passed third-party tests from SGS and STC, and has obtained ISO 14064-1/3 audit and verification certification by ANAB in the United States, enabling carbon-reduction benefits to be audited and fully demonstrating the spirit of aesthetics × energy creation × circularity.

Hsueh said that Join It integrates façade energy generation, energy-efficiency management, and circular recycling into a turnkey solution that enables buildings to self-consume green power, generate T-REC certificates, and quantify carbon-reduction. This transforms original OPEX (electricity fees and carbon fees) into a predictable and auditable cash-flow model, helping buildings, public facilities, campuses, and medical institutions deploy real-world demonstrations—allowing walls to earn back electricity and carbon expenses for investors. He expressed gratitude for government agencies’ continuous improvements in systems and standards—especially the Ministry of the Interior’s Architecture and Building Research Institute, whose professionalism and commitment in areas such as building energy efficiency, green building, material and construction method verification, and site demonstrations have allowed industries to progress following open, transparent, and verifiable procedures. This ensures that innovative technologies can be examined, challenged, and adopted by the market under fair competition.
