Join It Sustainable Tech. Wins 24th Business Startup Award. Transforms Corporate Façades into Power-Generating Assets by Color-painted PV
Taipei, Nov. 20, 2025 – The Ministry of Economic Affairs’ Small and Medium Enterprise and Startup Administration announced the winners of the “Business Startup Award” today. Join It Sustainable stood out among numerous competitors and won the award in the “Innovative Traditional Industry category” with its cross-domain innovation of a “Recyclable Application of Color-Painted Solar Panel Coating”, and has set a benchmark for turning building façades into green-energy assets. The awards ceremony took place at Hall 201 of the NTUH International Convention Center.

Minister Kung Ming-Hsin, the Ministry of Economic Affairs stated that SMEs continue to serve as the core pillar of Taiwan’s economy. This year’s winning teams span the fields of precision manufacturing, semiconductors, biotechnology, circular economy and net-zero technologies, demonstrating strong breakthroughs across innovation, internationalization and sustainability — aligning exactly with the government’s multipronged policy direction of “intelligent, sustainability and internationalization” for SMEs.
He further explained that in response to the impact of U.S. tariff measures, the government has enhanced its support across the board: expanding financial assistance, accelerating export layout, promoting research & development and transformation upgrades, and launching “industry support service teams” that work with industry associations to deliver tailored technical-upgrade and transformation services. With the government’s back, enterprises aim to convert external pressures into new opportunities for transformation and upgrading.
▲Join It Sustainable Tech. won the 24th Business Startup Award in the “Innovative Traditional Industry” category with its “Recyclable Application of Color-Painted Solar Panel Coating”. The award was presented by Minister Kung Ming‑Hsin of the Ministry of Economic Affairs, who recognized the team’s technological breakthroughs in net-zero buildings, façade power generation, and circular materials, successfully leading building façades toward becoming “sustainable assets that generate electricity.”
We are grateful to government for establishing regulations and demonstration projects that allow our innovation technology to shine in the sunlight,” said Hsueh Wei‑li, founder of Join It Sustainable Tech. He noted that the key to Taiwan achieving a balance between urban aesthetics and building carbon reduction is the government’s ongoing improvement of regulations and standards over the years. In particular, the Architecture and Building Research Institute (ABRI) of the Ministry of the Interior has provided professional guidance and steadfast oversight in areas such as building energy efficiency, green building certification, materials and construction verification, and field demonstrations. This has enabled the industry to operate according to open, transparent, and verifiable procedures.
The company also expressed special appreciation for ABRI’s long-standing emphasis on performance-based criteria and urban-friendly design principles. These regulatory foundations allow private-sector technologies to be fairly evaluated, challenged, and ultimately adopted by the market.
Reimagining City Façades with “Aesthetics × Generation × Circularity”
Join It Sustainable Tech’s core technology is recyclable and re-deployable.
- Appearance integration: supports customizable colors and patterns, reduces glare, while respecting urban aesthetics and brand identity.
- Performance upgrade: offers UV resistance, weather durability, cooling function and easy to cleaning — converting passive façades into energy-generating skins.
Circular design: modules can be recycled without dismantling, supporting full life-cycle management.
These characteristics have been certified through SGS and STC third-party testing, and hold ANAB accreditation for ISO 14064-1/3 audits and assurance. Thus, the carbon-reduction benefits can be audited and invested in.
Operating under the motto “Building as an Asset”, the company transforms façades from cost centers into auditable cash flow assets.
▲Join It Sustainable Tech. founder Hsueh Wei‑li and VP Li Chia‑Jung attended the award ceremony, highlighting their painted photovoltaic technology, recognized for integrating façade power generation, carbon reduction, and urban aesthetics.
The company provides a turnkey solution combining façade power generation + energy-efficiency management + circular recycling pathway. Integrating self-consumption of green electricity, tradable T-REC certificates and carbon-reduction quantification, the business model converts OPEX (electricity and carbon expense) into predictable, auditable cash flows.
This positioning enables Together Sustainable Tech to act as an intermediary between policy and industry, helping existing buildings, public facilities, campuses and medical sites to rapidly deploy and demonstrate. The aim is to enable façades to “work” — generating savings on electricity and carbon costs.
Policy recommendations to accelerate façade-type distributed green energy
Join It submitted five pragmatic and performance-oriented proposals for the Taiwan Energy Agency and Taiwan Power Company:
- Establish a dedicated chapter and capacity indicator for “façade/vertical BIPV” in renewable-energy policy, separate from rooftop BIPV; set performance benchmarks for design, glare and weather resistance, and institute yearly KPIs.
- Implement a “performance-based” incentive mechanism: reward based on actual equivalent generation (kWh/m²) and cooling contribution, with an urban-aesthetics coefficient to avoid one-size-fits-all subsidies.
- Simplify grid-connection process for small-scale façade systems: create fast review and standardized interface for low-voltage distributed façade systems; introduce “one-stop interconnection guide”.
- Recognize dual-track value of “self-use + T-REC”: clearly define mechanism for coexistence and tracking of self-consumed green electricity and certificates, strengthening auditability of corporate green-power procurement for ESG and carbon-fee management.
- Public-sector lead demonstration: launch demonstration projects in high-visibility sectors (public buildings, healthcare, campuses, stations) that combine façade energy retrofits and power generation, using total cost of ownership (TCO) and lifecycle carbon (LCA) as performance metrics to form replicable commercial templates.
“We are pleased to share, free of charge, our on-site data, measurement methods and operation & maintenance experience with authorities, enabling more precise regulations through evidence, and providing industry investors with greater confidence,” the company stated.

Overseas expansion and strategic collaboration
Join It has signed an MOU with the government of the Republic of Palau, with the U.S. state of Maryland expressing interest in establishing a proof-of-concept; meanwhile, it has signed MOUs with several Taiwanese universities to promote net-zero building demonstration and talent training. Through cross-national field verification → standards → business-model closure, the company aims to export Taiwan’s PV-system integration and urban-aesthetic capability to the Indo-Pacific market.
Founder’s vision
“When every wall can keep out rain, reduce heat and participate in the circular economy, green energy will no longer be a burden but an auditable return. We hope to transform urban façades into breathable ‘urban batteries’, and make net-zero part of daily operations. We thank the judges and authorities for their years of work on regulation, enabling the industry to speak through data and advance through results; we also look forward to collaborating with the Energy Agency and Taiwan Power to make façade-type distributed green energy Taiwan’s next replicable demonstration solution.”
