(Central News Agency, Reporter: Chung Yu-chen, Istanbul, 15th) The Taiwan Center located on the border of Turkey and Syria is collaborating with Taiwanese enterprises. By the end of this year, it will experiment with using smart contracts to record the destination of each small donation. Participants will receive exclusive NFTs authorized by the Taiwan Center, making the donation "information on the chain," providing real-time information on fund flow and activity progress.
The "Taiwan-Raihanle World Citizen Center" (hereinafter referred to as the Taiwan Center) was established with funding from the Republic of China government in southern Turkey. The Taiwan Center stated today in a press release that blockchain and cryptocurrency technology has not only assisted the Ukrainian government in fundraising during the Russia-Ukraine war but has also prompted the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) to establish relevant funds as early as 2019, enabling better application of sustainable development goals in various scenarios, such as donation management and tracking project records.
The Taiwan Center mentioned that, coincidentally, funded jointly by the Taiwanese government and the private sector, and planned and operated by Taiwanese architect Qiu Zhenyu, the Taiwan Center completed its main construction in the summer of 2022, providing comprehensive services to a large number of Syrian refugees and Turkish residents.
And The Center is not only the largest public building complex in the city of Raihanle but also the first residential activity center built to address the Syrian refugee crisis within Turkey. It also has the opportunity to become the world's first complex refugee center that applies blockchain technology to international humanitarian aid.
Qiu Zhenyu pointed out that for donations from around the world, every penny must be used with the utmost caution and seriousness. If innovative digital technology can increase the transparency of humanitarian aid actions, promote the convenience of donations, establish an objective and sound supervisory mechanism, and connect more people from different fields, naturally, it is something worth trying, all within the framework of compliance.
He expressed that the integration of blockchain technology with humanitarian aid is still in the development stage. Xue Weili, Chairman of "Together Care Technology Co., Ltd.," which has formed a cooperative relationship with the Taiwan Center, mentioned that emerging technologies can be hyped, but they can also be used to support meaningful causes.
Qiu Zhenyu said that after thorough communication between the bilateral teams, they will experiment with using smart contracts to record the destination of each small donation by the end of this year. In the future, different NFTs (Non-Fungible Tokens) and interactive experiences can be designed for different refugee aid projects, allowing the public not only to be donors but also to truly participate in the entire process.
He said that due to the combination of blockchain technology and humanitarian aid, the Taiwan Center will become a truly international platform, allowing resources from around the world, through the hands of the Taiwanese people, to help those who need it the most in the world.
In addition to expressing gratitude to the Taiwan Center and the support from various sectors of Taiwan in recent years, Mehmet Hacıoğlu, the Mayor of Raihanle, Turkey, expressed strong support for the idea of combining blockchain technology and NFT for charity fundraising. He said, "If digital technology can make humanitarian aid open and transparent, allowing more people to provide resources to help us respond to the refugee problem, I will look forward to it."
Hacıoğlu also accepted Qiu Zhenyu's invitation from various sectors of Taiwan and will visit Taiwan in early December to personally express sincere thanks and blessings to everyone who has helped the Taiwan Center. "Because of the goodwill and good deeds from Taiwan, it makes a difference in this world full of war and suffering."(Editor: Zhou Yongjie) 1111115
