COVID-19 has been ongoing for over a year, and Taiwan experienced a sudden surge in cases in the past month, prompting the escalation of epidemic prevention measures to Level 3. Originally scheduled to last until May 28, the Central Epidemic Command Center has decided to extend Level 3 alert until June 14 due to the continued rise in cases. Despite the challenges, healthcare professionals in Taiwan continue to work tirelessly to safeguard the lives of the people. In response to the elevated epidemic prevention level, the Ministry of Education has extended the suspension of in-person classes, initially implemented from May 19, until June 14. This extension also affects catering companies providing nutritious school lunches on campuses.

In light of the ongoing COVID-19 situation, Mr. Xue Wei Li, the Chairman of Join it management consultant Technology Co., Ltd., and also the Chairman of the Association for Vocational Education and Training Innovation and Development (AVEC), generously donated 100 sets of pandemic relief meals and 500 protective goggles to the epidemic prevention personnel at Taichung Veterans General Hospital on May 28. Chairman Xue Wei Li expressed his gratitude to the hardworking frontline personnel and acknowledged the challenges they face in ensuring their safety amid the escalating epidemic.

Chairman Xue Wei Li stated that with the rapid escalation of the epidemic, the healthcare system is under immense strain, and the safety of frontline medical staff is facing serious challenges. Therefore, he specially procured protective goggles with the hope of contributing to epidemic prevention efforts. The ingredients for the meals provided today were sourced from local farmers affected by the suspension of classes, adding a special significance to the initiative. Mr. Zhuang Lihe, the Director of the Public Relations Office at Taichung Veterans General Hospital, expressed his heartfelt appreciation upon receiving the news. In the current situation, where everyone is experiencing heightened anxiety, having business leaders take the lead in responding to charity initiatives is commendable and not an easy task. He assured that the goodwill would be effectively conveyed to the medical staff, maximizing its impact. He also looked forward to everyone uniting and working together to combat the epidemic.

The ShaLu Fruit and Vegetable Marketing Cooperative mentioned that the organic vegetables produced by HuaXing Fresh Grocery have primarily been supplied to catering companies. The nationwide suspension of classes has severely disrupted income for local farmers. In order to assist these farmers, the cooperative, with the guidance of the Agricultural and Food Agency, has developed a vegetable and fruit home delivery service. Consumers can now enjoy fresh, locally sourced organic vegetables without leaving their homes, ensuring that local farmers do not face financial losses. Liao Rui-sheng, the owner of HuaXing Fresh Grocery, expressed gratitude for Chairman Xue Wei Li's generous support.

Mr. Tong Yu-xian, the Chairman of the catering company, stated that through a chance encounter and the assistance of the Labor Development Agency's Zhong Zhang Tou Program, he got to know Chairman Xue of AVEC. When the notice of the extended suspension of classes was received, Chairman Xue promptly extended a helping hand to assist in resource integration. This support has allowed the catering company to smoothly transition during the pandemic. During this period, the company will launch nutritionally balanced and healthy reheatable meals through a team of professional nutritionists and a central kitchen certified with HACCP food certification, ensuring food safety and health for the public.

The Chairman of Join it, Mr. Xue Wei Li, stated, "We are planning a new type of cloud-based integrated platform for the tourism industry. We hope that after the pandemic, everyone can seamlessly connect with the world. This event is just the beginning. We will utilize the existing resources and energy of AVEC to call for more businesses and members under the guidance of AVEC to respond. By purchasing vegetable and fruit boxes or reheatable meals, we not only help Taiwanese small farmers but also engage in charity at home. For every vegetable and fruit box ordered, we will donate NT$10 to the epidemic prevention center of the Department of Health, Executive Yuan. We invite everyone to contribute to local agriculture while doing charity at home. If other people are willing to help small farmers or businesses in need, please feel free to contact us directly."
