The Taiwan Smart Net Zero Building Industry Alliance has officially been established: Industry, government, academia, and research collaborate to move towards the 2050 net-zero carbon building goal together!
The government declares the realization of the 2050 net-zero carbon emission goal and the implementation of ESG carbon assessment and carbon offset.
President Tsai Ing-wen declares the achievement of the 2050 net-zero carbon emission goal and the implementation of ESG carbon assessment and carbon offset. The idea was initiated by Presidential Office Secretary-General Lin Chia-lung, and the Ministry of the Interior Minister Lin Yu-chang led the establishment of the "Taiwan Smart Net Zero Building Industry Alliance." The alliance aims to ensure that 100% of new buildings achieve the net-zero goal, implement ESG carbon assessment and carbon offset, and convert over 85% of existing buildings into near-zero carbon buildings. The goal is to collaborate with various departments and industries to find feasible solutions.

How to achieve the 2050 net-zero carbon emission target and implement ESG carbon inventory and carbon neutrality
Lin Chia-lung emphasizes that the establishment of the alliance is a positive start, aiming to integrate smart city applications, domain technologies, and enterprises to implement ESG carbon assessment and carbon offset. He hopes that leaders from various fields will participate in this interdisciplinary effort, using the national team's positioning to collectively upgrade all supply chains.
Lin Yu-chang notes that the Executive Yuan approved Taiwan's net-zero carbon emission target path and the general explanation of implementing ESG carbon assessment and carbon offset in March of this year. This is a national-level policy aimed at guiding the public and private sectors to achieve the sustainable policy goals of the 2050 net-zero carbon emission through the promotion of four major transformation strategies in energy, industry, life, and society, as well as 12 key strategic initiatives. He emphasizes the Ministry of the Interior's supervisory responsibilities in urban planning, land planning, construction, housing, and other areas. However, he acknowledges a lack of industry thinking in past policy implementations. He believes that national policies on net-zero carbon emissions and the implementation of ESG carbon assessment and carbon offset should be industrialized, becoming a new strategy to improve lives and promote economic development. He is pleased with the establishment of the alliance, which currently has 195 members. Lin hopes to find practical and feasible solutions, overcoming obstacles in policies, regulations, standards, and implementing ESG carbon assessment and carbon offset. This will drive the development of smart net-zero carbon buildings.

Private enterprises respond to the 2050 net-zero carbon emission target and implement ESG carbon inventory and carbon neutrality
In order to achieve the net-zero carbon emission goal, Xue Wei-li, the Chairman of JOIN IT and the inaugural supervisor, points out the historical lack of direct communication mechanisms between the private industry and the government. For instance, he mentions the coordination challenges between the Taipei City Environmental Protection Bureau and the current regulations for placing energy storage equipment indoors under the "Taipei City Creative Energy Storage and Energy-saving Subsidy Program." Xue believes that the alliance's establishment will enhance communication efficiency and accelerate Taiwan's implementation of the 2050 net-zero carbon emission sustainable goal and ESG carbon assessment and carbon offset.
Recently, Gaea Sustainable Farm, in collaboration with JOIN IT, was featured in a CNN interview, sharing breakthroughs in organic agriculture. It has become Taiwan's first UN-certified zero-carbon farm. Gaea Sustainable Farm expresses its commitment to continue collaborating with JOIN IT on new energy systems, including color solar panels, to consistently implement ESG carbon assessment and carbon offset. This partnership showcases Taiwan's determination to promote sustainable development towards net-zero emissions.
