The Taiwan Reyhanli World Citizen Center (Turkey Taiwan Center), dedicated to refugee assistance in Turkey, held a press conference today (5) at the Joinit&Datavan Metaverse Business Applications Center to announce an exclusive authorization for a charity NFT fundraising project. Donors who contribute will receive NFTs. Through the tamper-proof technology of blockchain, the entire process of executing charity funds by the center will be recorded, ensuring transparency at every step and gaining the maximum trust of fundraisers, thus promoting the further development of charitable causes.

The Taiwan Center, established in 2017, initially received project funding from the United States and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Taiwan. It also fundraised on the well-known platform "Zeczec." This year, it secured a budget from the International Organization for Migration (IOM) and invested in building renewable solar and wind energy systems, as well as a water resource recycling system, making it the world's first "100% net-zero carbon" refugee camp.

In addition, through the establishment of a cooperative for refugee women, local handmade crafts and spices are promoted and sold through e-commerce, aiming for self-sufficiency and approaching the ideal value goals of a social enterprise.

These internationally acclaimed charitable initiatives were all orchestrated by Taiwanese architectural scholar Qiu Zhenyu. Qiu Zhenyu, born in Keelung, Taiwan, graduated from the Department of Architecture at Chung Yuan Christian University, obtained a master's degree from Columbia University in the United States, a Ph.D. from the University of Melbourne in Australia, and did post-doctoral research at Aalto University in Finland. About seven years ago, while serving as an assistant professor at Bilkent University in Turkey, he witnessed mothers in Syrian refugee camps inspecting food to survive, prompting him to get involved in emergency relief, basic education, women's vocational training, water resources, and renewable energy fundraising.

Currently serving as the chairman of the International Humanitarian Architecture and Education Association and the creator of the Turkey Taiwan Center, Qiu Zhenyu shared the challenges faced in rescuing refugee children and building the first shelter. One significant challenge was the lack of fundraising tools and channels to connect to international platform resources. Through the "Charity NFT - Taiwan Center WEB 3 Fundraising Scheme" planned in collaboration with "Together," Taiwan, facing difficulties in directly participating in humanitarian aid activities due to its international status, now has the opportunity to fully unleash its potential.

The NFT issuing entity for this project is "Join it Management Consultants Co., Ltd.," a company committed to Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Chairman Xue Weili, recently awarded the Good Person and Good Deed Representative Award by Kaohsiung City, stated, "Using cutting-edge technology combined with creative charity is the best way to break down international barriers and promote Taiwan's love and care."

The planned commemorative NFT for charity is distributed for free, not for sale. Anyone concerned about the development of the Taiwan Center and those who have made donations can directly claim it online. The goal is to use the tamper-proof technology of blockchain to record the entire process of charity fund execution by the Turkey Taiwan Center, ensuring transparency at every step and gaining the maximum trust of fundraisers to further promote charitable causes.

The Chairman of Hongyi International, the company that collaborated to establish the Metaverse Business Applications Center, Zhang Hongtai, expressed happiness that the first event at the venue was a meaningful international ESG humanitarian rescue service. He mentioned that in the future, Hongyi International will collaborate with "Together" to digitally transform industries and use digital technology to influence more people to join charitable activities.

Such a charitable initiative has also received praise from Commissioner Fan Xunlu of the National Human Rights Commission of the Control Yuan. She stated, "Human rights have no borders, and Taiwan's international respect lies in its participation in safeguarding human rights worldwide."

Minister Gu Yi-Chin of the Ministry of Culture expressed, "Amid the humanitarian crises in conflict zones, under the sheltering dome of the Taiwan Center, the profound cultural exchange highlights the goodness and beauty of human civilization." Legislator Lin Ching-Yi praised the Taiwan Center, stating that it is a rare opportunity in diplomatic history to see young people from Taiwan participating in international humanitarian relief efforts.

Huang Chi-Guang, the first Chinese former president of Rotary International, commented, "During my term, I had the opportunity to visit Turkey, 8,000 kilometers away. The culture there has many similarities with Taiwan, and the local Rotary Club is very active. Taiwanese Rotary Clubs are also generous, donating an average of 15 million USD annually. Through this emerging mutual assistance approach, it not only brings love and care to local refugees but also provides substantial assistance."

The "Charity NFT" fundraising project is managed by Bifrost, a blockchain consulting firm under Pioneer Capital. It supports the necessary blockchain technologies for NFT issuance, utilizing the tamper-resistant features of blockchain to achieve security, transparency, and trust. This initiative creates a novel platform for conveying charitable values, aligning with applications in ESG and CSR corporate scenarios. Corporations and individuals are welcomed to participate in charitable fundraising, jointly innovating to spread Taiwan's care worldwide.
