The 454th Guidance Meeting of SBIR, Small and Medium Enterprises Division, Ministry of Economic Affairs

Passed subsidies for 17 innovative R&D projects of small and medium-sized enterprises

The Small and Medium Enterprise Administration of the Ministry of Economic Affairs held the 454th guidance meeting for the Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) program. The meeting reviewed and approved funding for 17 innovative technology/service research and development projects proposed by small and medium-sized enterprises. These projects include 9 breakthroughs in technological innovation and 8 applications in service development. The detailed list of approved projects is provided in the attached table.

The Small and Medium Enterprise Administration highlighted that the approved projects from the 454th guidance meeting are expected to stimulate over NT$32.57 million in research and development investment by subsidized companies. This is anticipated to encourage more manpower investment in research and development by small and medium-sized enterprises, promoting the cultivation of research and development talents and the accumulation of R&D capabilities. The SBIR program aims to encourage and assist domestic small and medium-sized enterprises in actively engaging in innovative research and development, enabling them to sustain and grow. Through the outcomes of research and development, it seeks to establish a comprehensive industrial system, contributing to the future economic development of Taiwan.

According to statistics, the SBIR program, initiated in February 1999, has approved and executed 8,823 innovative research and development projects to date. The government subsidy amounts to over NT$13.33 billion, driving small and medium-sized enterprises to invest nearly NT$24.69 billion in research and development. This has significantly contributed to enhancing the technological capabilities of our country's small and medium-sized enterprises, elevating the competitiveness of our industries, and facilitating the upgrade and transformation of traditional industries.
